Dear IFFR-Members

With our friends from the German/Austrian section we have agreed to organize our autumn meeting every second year in Switzerland. Now once again it’s our turn. We cordially invite you all to spend a prolonged weekend in the Eastern part of Switzerland in the area of St. Gallen and Appenzell.

The region St. Gallen / Appenzell is very special with its beautiful, charming countryside. The Alpstein mountains with the unique Säntis (2’500m ASL) is a particular landmark of this area. We shall visit the city of St. Gallen with its historic downtown and the world-famous monastery and shall go on a day-trip to Appenzell, the famous place of the ‘Landsgemeinde’ where the people in the community still vote by raising their hand. The Fly-In will show you Switzerland as it is known all over the world: down-to-earth, colourful, homely, traditional and musical. We have put extra emphasis on tasting the culinary specialities of this region.

So that your journey here will be worthwhile we are organising the IFFR-meeting from Thursday, 27/8/15 to Sunday 30/8/15. But of course it is also possible to join us on Friday, 28/8/15. Whoever comes by plane can land at the airport of St. Gallen/Altenrhein (1500 x 30m runway, ILS Cat 1) The airport has a customs’ office and can be flown to without any problem VFR und IFR but it is closed from1200 to 1330 LT which has to be incorporated in the planning of the flight.

We are looking forward to a high participation and ask you for an early registration (participants max. 80): Registration on our website: www.iffr.ch or see the attached document.

With my best flying regards

Thomas Morf
